The Consonants
Having
completed the vowels that are required to write Kashmiri, we shall now deal with
the consonants. Being a language that takes after Sanskrit, most of the
consonants used in Kashmiri are the same as those used in modern Devnagri. There
are, however, a few additional sound symbols included to provide the needed
spectrum of sounds to write Kashmiri. The alphabet is unique in that it is
totally phonetic.
