For producing the sound
[A] centre of the tongue is raised up to the middle level in the oral cavity and
air is made to pass smoothly. Lips remain unrounded.
For producing [A:] the
duration of articulation is to be increased.
Now listen to the sound
[A] in initial position of the following words:

Remember the sound does
